BORIS HLOŽAN
Guitarist Boris Hložan is one of the leading jazz musicians of the Novi Sad music scene. After an initial period of studying classical guitar, he turned to jazz, performing as a sideman at numerous concerts and festivals throughout Serbia, Austria, the Czech Republic, and other European countries. He completed his classical guitar studies at the Music School “Isidor Bajić” in Novi Sad, where he studied with Aleksandar Milošević, Petar Herbović, Zorana Krazberger, Ingrid Dezman, Uwe Plata, and others. He was also a member of the Novi Sad Big Band and participated in workshops led by prominent jazz figures.
He has performed at festivals such as Nišville Jazz Festival, Šabac Jazz Festival, Belgrade Jazz Festival, Novi Sad Jazz Festival, and others. One of the founders of the Big Band Jazz Orchestra of Vojvodina, he has been its organizer since 2018.
He is currently active as a member of the Boris Hložan Quartet, with which he has performed with some of the most significant jazz musicians from Serbia and the region, including Vojislav Bulatović, Ljubiša Paunić, Aleksandar Milošević, and others.
He has performed with the Milena Jančurić Quintet, the Ivan Švager Septet, the Kultur-Orchestra, and the Jazz Orchestra of Novi Sad’s Serbian National Theatre, thus continuing the important tradition of jazz ensembles in Novi Sad.
